Neil R. Crawford, PhD

Associate Staff Scientist, Spinal Biomechanics Laboratory

Dr. Neil Crawford specializes in research on stability of the spine. He works closely with Barrow staff neurosurgeons, residents, and fellows to study how spinal stability can be affected by injury, disease, and neurosurgical procedures. His current interests include complex kinematics of artificial discs, computer modeling of the spine, and surgical robotics. He has published 9 chapters or review articles and over 60 peer-reviewed papers related to spinal surgery and biomechanics.

Dr. Crawford received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 1988, his Master of Science degree in Bioengineering from Arizona State University in 1992, and his Doctorate degree in Bioengineering from Arizona State University in 1996. He is a Research Associate Professor in the Harrington Department of Bioengineering at Arizona State University.
