Since its beginning in 1962 when Charles Barrow made a generous gift to St. Joseph's Hospital to give reality to Dr. John Green's dream to build a neuroscience institute, Barrow's mission has been to advance the knowledge and practice of medicine in neuroscience through basic and clinical research, education of medical professionals, and innovation in clinical techniques and technology.
As an integral part of St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center, the largest hospital in the Catholic Healthcare West system, Barrow has been one of the preeminent centers for specialty neurological care in the country for more than four decades.
As a part of the healing ministry of Jesus Christ and a member of Catholic Healthcare West system, St. Joseph's Hospital and Barrow Neurological Institute are dedicated to delivering compassionate, high-quality, affordable health services, especially to the poor and disenfranchised, in active partnership with others in the community to improve the quality of life.
